Agility World  -  Kennel Club Child Protection Policy

For the reassurance of both parents of children and those who are engaged in canine activities and involved in close contact with children – the Kennel Club has introduced a Child Protection Policy.

The policy seeks to set out best practice principles and guidance on what to do in various situations. The policy very much reflects current practice but has been introduced to set down the relevant information in one central resource for future reference.

The Kennel Club takes all practicable steps to ensure the safety and welfare of children and young people while they are in engaged in canine events governed by the Kennel Club and its licensed activities, observing the recommendations of the Kennel Club Child Protection Policy and conforming with all relevant legislation.

All Kennel Club voluntary and paid staff are made aware of the need to safeguard the welfare of children and young people. Where staff or volunteers have unsupervised contact with children as part of their work they should do so in accordance with the Child Protection Policy.

Those who are directly involved with children and young people under 18 years as part of canine activities should become familiar with and adopt the policy as appropriate.

The Child Protection Policy is available upon request or may be downloaded from the website in the ‘Meet the Kennel Club’ or ‘Young Kennel Club’ sections and can be found directly at http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/1567
